  1. Pre-Production: consultation, location scouting, designing, preparation, styling assistance
  2. Session: "Time and talent of Photographer" refers to the use of my time, expertise, and equipment for the time of the session
  3. Post-Production: Culling, light editing, and proofing of images for selection purposes

Digital Image pricing accounts for time in post-production as well as perpetual digital usage rights.

The portrait session is only part of the creative process - without post-processing, the image won't look like the work in my portfolio.

Detailed editing by hand is time-consuming, but absolutely necessary portraits with a polished, but natural aesthetic.

If you want to be sure your favorites make the cut, you can personally select the final images you'd like to order prior to editing. Or, if you'd rather, you can leave final selection to me based on your desired quantity.

For quality management and guaranteed consistency in my work, unfinished digital images are not available outside of selection.

Digital Images are priced individually, with volume discounts applied to orders over 10, 20, & 30.

Images added to a Portrait Collection are priced at the same rate as those within the collection.

*See Client Guide or Contact Me for detailed session and pricing info

Payment plans (& pre-payment plans) are available.

You may divide your payment over up to 6 months with no interest.

Keep in mind: your finalized images will not be delivered until payment is received in full. Consider a pre-payment plan if this is an issue!

Finalized images are delivered within 14 days of final payment.

Behind The Scenes

POST-PRODUCTION, EDITING, & WORKFLOW

For every hour of session time, around 10 hours of behind-the-scenes work is required in pre- and post-production.

BTS work examples include location scouting, logistical planning, session design, business management, one-on-one consultation, guidance, image culling, proofing, and hand-editing.

The activity that accounts for the majority of the BTS work is post-process editing by hand.

No matter how tedious detailed editing by hand may be, it's worth it for the polished, but natural final result.

The separation is in the preparation!

To guarantee consistent style and quality in the products I deliver, I don't release images until they have been fully edited and finalized.

I cull in Photomechanic, then I perform global and batch edits in Lightroom. After those steps, I spend the majority of my editing time in Photoshop making detailed, local edits.

*See: "What is your editing style and process?" for more detailed information.

I perform a multitude of tiny corrections to create a clean image that is polished and distraction-free, while still looking natural. The final product is clean, focused and beautiful, without looking unnatural or overly filtered.

Generally speaking, I do whatever is necessary complement and enhance your natural beauty. I direct the focus of the viewer to you by using photographic principles (light, composition, color, depth of field, etc.), as well as by removing any distractions and imperfections that may catch the viewers' eye.

If something is not expected to last more that 2-3 weeks (bruise, blemish, etc.), it is removed. Upon specific request, I can remove other marks such as scars and birthmarks.

The following editing techniques are applied to all clients, unless requested otherwise: remove blemishes, soften skin, whiten eyes, enhance iris, whiten teeth, clean up flyaway hairs, sharpen key features, and apply any other enhancements and adjustments that would improve the image. At times, I may change the sky, remove major objects, expand the frame, swap people, and various other corrections as necessary.

PRINTING PRACTICES, REGULATIONS, & INFORMATION

Since I can only guarantee the quality of the professional printers I have vetted and approved, printing through my storefront is the recommended method.

The printers I work with deliver predictable, consistent quality. Every item is carefully produced by highly-skilled technicians using the best materials and practices.

The gamut is vast for printing production, and the quality of the results can truly enhance or devalue an image.

Professional printing is the key to superior production, and also the best way to ensure your artwork has the archival longevity to be passed down generationally.

For guaranteed quality, I recommend ordering prints and wall art directly from your portrait gallery via my storefront.

If you’d prefer to print externally, print-ready files are available with legal copyright release for printing for $10 per image or $50 for the full gallery.

Products intended for temporary use (announcements, cards, and small prints) may be printed with no need for additional file management or a print release.
